On September 10, 1952, Major Jesse Folmar and his wingman were attacked by a total of eight MiG 15 jet fighters. Major Folmar did a reverse turn on the MiG leader and shot him down with a five-second burst of his 20 mm cannon. This was the only jet kill by an American piston driven aircraft during the Korean War. The artist is proud that Major Jesse Folmar, Ret, is his first cousin, once removed.
